Over fifty years in the earth sciences
Ali Yılmaz graduated from the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Ankara University in 1970 and began his career at the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) in 1971, where he led and contributed to numerous regional geology projects, including the first 1:25,000 scale geological mapping of the Sivas region. He became Associate Professor in 1987 and was appointed Professor of Environmental Sciences at Cumhuriyet University in 1998, chairing the Department of Environmental Engineering between 1998 and 2007.
